How to Help Pipspook Rest in Peace (Don’t Starve Together)
Finding Pipspook
Pipspooks have a chance of spawning near a headstone when no other Pipspooks are close by, making graveyards the easiest place to search for them. They have a chance to spawn each in-game day, so if your first trek through the graveyard isn’t haunted enough, you can keep checking back in. Another factor that raises the odds of a Pipspook spawning near a headstone is the number of Wendy players within the server. More Wendy players will increase the spawn chances.
How to Assist
While any player will be able to see Pipspook floating around near its headstone, only Wendy can actually assist the sad soul. Stand close to Pipspook as Wendy and you should see the “Assist” option appear, as pictured. Now that you are assisting Pipspook, you will have to help it find several lost toys.
Each lost toy found will result in your ghostly pal dropping Mourning Glory, so you don’t necessarily have to help Pipspook find all of their lost toys, but the spirit will not be able to rest unless you find them all. That’s more of a moral preference I suppose--but don’t you want Pipspook to find eternal peace? (...Or, if you’re stocking up on Mourning Glory, don’t you want to gather as much as possible? Pipspook will drop four Mourning Glory when the final toy is found, as opposed to one for all toys prior.)
To find the lost toys, Pipspook will guide you. You’ll notice that the spirit follows you around now as you walk, but if you stand still the spirit will float slightly in the direction of the current toy that you are seeking. Thus begins a lackluster game of hot and cold. When Wendy starts to get close to the lost toy, a small Halo will appear over Pipspook’s head. If Wendy is really close to it, then the halo grows even larger. While the halo is large, you still might not be able to see the lost toy until you are nearly standing on top of it. It is concealed until Wendy is just a few steps away, meaning the toy could be within the screen you’re looking at without actually being visible yet.
In the picture on the right, the leaky teacup is the lost toy that Wendy is currently searching for, and the distance shown in the image is about as far away as you can stand from the item before it turns invisible. That’s what makes helping Pipspook so tedious.
When you do finally find the lost item, Wendy just needs to stand over it for a moment. Pipspook will then collect the toy and drop some Mourning Glory. This process repeats three to five times, as each Pipspook can have a different number of toys to discover within that range.
Mourning Glory Uses
Mourning Glory is an item that is really only helpful to Wendy, and more specifically, her ghostly sister Abigail. (Shocking, I know, considering only Wendy can help Pipspook.)
The first use for Mourning Glory is to combine it with Nightmare Fuel, which creates Abigail’s Flower. If for any reason you’ve lost Abigail’s Flower, this should be your first priority.
The rest of the uses for Mourning Glory are to create various ghostly elixirs that benefit Abigail herself. These elixirs offer a variety of temporary buffs, like increased movement speed or longer shield duration. There are six different elixirs that can be crafted.
This should cover everything you need to know about assisting Pipspook and utilizing Mourning Glory, but if any other questions arise, please feel free to leave a comment below!
