Gotta Catch ‘em All: Vivillon Patterns

Pokemon GO is still alive and well in the good year of 2024, but if you’re here then you already know this. You’re here to go above and beyond, seeking a pokedex complete with not just every pokemon, but every pattern and form available to them. Vivillon adds to that challenge with eighteen unique wing patterns to collect, but below you’ll find some tips to speed up the collection process.

Gifts are the key to collecting Vivillon. More specifically, pinning postcards is key as it allows you to catch Scatterbugs. The region that each post card comes from correlates to one of the wing patterns, and you can check your progress for all regions under the ‘Vivillon Collector’ achievement. This can help you keep track of how many more postcards you need to pin for any specific region. But what if you don’t have any friends living in the Sandstorm or Ocean region to send you postcards?

Time to make new friends! A helpful hub that connects players for this purpose is Leek Duck’s Pen Pal. Here, you’ll find a list of recently active players that includes their postcard regions, why they want to add friends, and their trainer codes. You can even add yourself to the list for a day for an influx of friend requests.

My advice for adding friends is to first find people from the regions you don’t yet have friends/postcards from and make sure all of those bases are covered. It may take a day or two for people to accept your requests as they could have more friend requests to accept than gifts to give for the day.

Once you have at least one friend from every region actively sending gifts, you will slowly but surely collect all the Scatterbugs that you need. From there, you need to focus on saving up enough candy to evolve eighteen of those little guys. If you’re pinning all of your postcards and you aren’t hitting your daily gift opening limit (thirty gifts per day) then I would suggest adding yourself to the Pen Pal list so others who need postcards from your region can benefit from your gifts while you can collect as many Scatterbugs as possible.

Good luck catching them all!
